Shannon Jones pleads guilty to theft with priors; judge imposes six-month jail term

Shannon Jones waived formal reading of the indictment and pleaded guilty to a state-jail felony theft charge that included prior convictions. The court considered the pre-sentence report and related incident reports before announcing a sentence.

The judge found the prior convictions to be true and imposed a six-month term in the Jefferson County Jail under section 12.44 of the penal code. The judge handed the defendant the trial-court certification documenting the plea and a written admonishment explaining that because of the conviction Jones is ineligible under Texas law to possess a firearm or ammunition.

The court noted the defendant would receive credit for time already served in custody and invited questions about the duration and legal consequences. The defendant was then returned to custody to begin the sentence.
