Board approves revised Registrar of Voters job description and pay increase for early-voting duties

Town staff presented a revised Registrar of Voters job description (updated July 17, 2026) that explicitly incorporates early-voting responsibilities, management of the voter registry, pre-election testing of equipment, and the budgeting of poll-worker pay. CFO Seth Bernstein explained the revisions and the expected stipend amounts for the current cycle.

The Board first voted to approve the updated job description, then unanimously approved an amendment to the 2026–27 pay plan adding an additional $2,500 payment to each Registrar of Voters to cover extra duties during the early-voting period. In discussion, the Board noted state restrictions on amending prior fiscal-year budgets; the packet notes a stipend of $7,734.40 this year and an additional $2,500 earmarked for early voting duties for each registrar.
