LCA says it applied for $500,000 county recovery grant to fund alternate route tying into Leilani Estates

Presenter (speaker 6) updated the board that the association successfully submitted a preliminary recovery grant application to the county requesting $500,000 to build an alternate route. He said the grant application covers material and grading but not the paperwork or right‑of‑way work necessary to clear legal title.

“If we asked for a $500,000 grant for an alternate route to 20 Feet Road,” the presenter said, and noted county officials told the association results should arrive in December. He added that O'Connor construction is lined up to perform the work should the grant be awarded and that the project timeline would allow about 18 months to complete the route if funding is provided. Board members observed that the grant amount would not cover land acquisition or certain permitting costs, so additional financing or in‑kind county support may be required.

Members discussed alignment and connections: the presenter said the grant would allow work that could start from Leilani Estates and connect to Kapooka/Lower Kapooka segments. No formal commitment of matching funds or a final contractor contract was approved at the meeting pending grant award and further cost details.
