Planning Director Doug DeMasi briefed commissioners on a rezoning application for 1637 Mount Herman Road, which arose after a building inspector observed activity at the site. DeMasi said the owner told staff he purchased the property earlier in the year and intends to use it as a vehicle‑towing business.
DeMasi said the item was deferred in May for a neighborhood meeting, but no members of the public attended that meeting. The planning commission nonetheless recommended approval by unanimous vote. DeMasi emphasized that, if rezoned, the applicant would have to complete site‑plan review and meet access and landscaping standards and that prior to development he may need to provide engineering documentation such as compaction reports.
Commissioners asked whether neighbors had filed complaints; DeMasi said staff would check building‑inspector records and follow up if additional complaints are on file.
