Traffic pattern changes set for Smyrna High as school opens; city commits striping

Transportation staff briefed the board on completed and pending roadwork affecting Smyrna High School (Bulldog Drive). The presentation described added turning lanes, a widened bus entrance, new bus‑entrance‑only pavement and other changes required by TDOT and the developer; staff said the contractor committed to temporary or permanent striping by Thursday night and to finish turning lanes by Sunday if weather permits.

Mr. Lee (transportation staff) said the new layout includes two lanes into the campus and expanded exit lanes to improve morning and afternoon flow. He said the developer also agreed to install a fence along Bulldog Drive and that traffic signals necessary for the long‑term configuration will not be operational until roughly Aug. 13, so contingency plans and temporary striping are in place for school start.
