EID plans outreach, will present extension request to city council on Aug. 24

Board members discussed a proposed ordinance extension (previously a 10-year term) and a council-level suggestion to shorten the term to five years. Members said they had contacted residents and will pause to allow further discussion with affected parties. The board settled on preparing communications to property owners and agreed that a board representative will present an overview of EID activities to council on Aug. 24.

The board agreed on two parallel communications: a legal notice to property owners about the extension (which would follow official council action) and an informational/business letter or survey to gather feedback on programs such as short-term parking and holiday events. Staff agreed to set up a generic EID distribution (or distribution list) and to post budget and program information on the city EID web page to improve transparency. Specific tasks assigned included preparing a draft letter for board review, Michael setting up the generic EID distribution, and Justin preparing a short presentation for the council meeting.

Next steps: board will finalize communications after council action as appropriate, create a distribution list for ongoing EID correspondence and post budget materials to the city webpage.
