Council approves full-time battalion chief job description and wage

The Glendive City Council voted to approve a full-time battalion chief/fire-prevention job description and wage following a recommendation from the personnel committee. The motion passed by voice vote after council members discussed the scope of duties.

Council members asked whether building inspection responsibilities would be assigned to the new battalion chief; the mayor and other council members clarified that building-inspection duties are not part of the job description as presented. The mayor said the packet contains the full job description and that the city may revisit additional duties in the future.
