Sun Valley council agrees budget framework for 2020, sets $3.5M for capital improvement fund

The Sun Valley City Council reviewed and agreed to the proposed 2020 fiscal year budget on July 8, approving departmental budgets with several amendments. Council Member Michelle Griffith asked that salary lines be adjusted to reflect that the city will not have an interim and permanent city administrator concurrently; that amendment was accepted. The council agreed to departmental budgets for Legislation, Administration, Community Development (with the tree assessment moved to expenditures), Police (with equipment funding reclassified), Fire, and Streets, as described by staff.

Councilors also set the Contingency Fund at $75,000 and agreed to place $3.5 million into the Capital Improvement Fund to address upcoming large-ticket items. The council approved listed capital and operational expenditures including server replacement, online bill pay integration, server room air conditioning, leases for two police vehicles, all Fire Department requested items, Streets Department requests, and a City Hall update budgeted at $99,260.
