Sun Valley Mayor Peter Hendricks and the City Council voted Aug. 9 to move $111,000 budgeted under account 10-415-250 (General Fund — health insurance) into the contingency fund during the second reading of Ordinance No. 531, the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2018.
Council Member Michelle Griffith moved to accept the mayor's recommendation “to move the $111,000 in 10-415-250 to the contingency fund,” and Council Member Brad DuFur seconded; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with DuFur, Griffith and Jane Conard voting yes and no members voting nay. City Administrator Susan Robertson then read Ordinance No. 531 by title only as part of the formal second reading.
The change shifts the health-insurance line into contingency so council and staff can further study the city's insurance budgeting before the appropriation is finalized. No public comments were recorded during the hearing and the mayor opened and closed the public hearing at 4:11 PM.
