Vice chair suggests roundabout as alternative to left‑turn lane for Fairmont intersection

Vice Chair Deck raised concerns about morning circulation for future residents and questioned whether a left‑turn lane alone would address the problem. "A roundabout would be more ideal than just a raised crosswalk," Vice Chair Deck said, arguing a roundabout at the intersection would better accommodate residents leaving a large apartment complex.

Director Stewart said the roundabout concept had been discussed during the Neighborhood Design District process and that staff could include images of the concept at the regular meeting. The commission generally agreed traffic details would be weighed with public works and the city’s public services staff during the site‑plan review and that final street improvements are subject to city approval.
