Commissioners preview removing two‑bedroom cap in downtown B‑1 zoning

Vice Chair Deck and Commissioner Bloom introduced a proposed code change that would remove the phrase limiting multi‑family units in the downtown B‑1 zone to "two or fewer bedrooms." "The suggested change is just taking out the couple of words that says with units having 2 or fewer bedrooms," Vice Chair Deck said when previewing the item.

Staff said the change would remove a condition that currently requires a conditional‑use permit for three‑bedroom units in B‑1 and that the amendment could be included in the larger text‑amendment package staff plans to initiate. The commission heard the preview and did not take action; the item will appear on a future regular meeting agenda for formal initiation and public notice.
