County highlights Chapel Crossing fire station, Coast Guard Beach facility and bridge designs

Interns presented a slate of infrastructure and recreation projects tracked under the strategic plan and noted status updates for several. They said the Chapel Crossing fire station marked a topping‑out ceremony and is expected to be finished by early next year. The Coast Guard Beach parking lot is complete and the associated facility construction remains underway.

Presenters also noted design‑phase projects intended to ease traffic and improve access: the St. Simons Gateway Project (island gateway improvements) and the Perry Lane bridge replacement (widening and safety improvements). Commissioners thanked staff for progress and discussed continued monitoring as the county moves projects through design, bidding and construction phases.
