Trainer: AI transcripts and audio recordings are records but do not replace meeting minutes

Michelle Randazzo told attendees that while recording or transcribing meetings can assist minute‑taking, "an AI transcript or any transcript, even if you recorded it through audio means and had a court stenographer transcribe it, does not constitute minutes." She said minutes should be summaries of proceedings and not verbatim transcripts.

Randazzo added that when boards create electronic recordings or AI transcripts they create a record that may be discoverable in court or in response to a public‑records request, and that boards should consider that consequence when deciding whether and how to use AI tools for meetings.
