In response to a question about whether the Security Council will take action on Gaza or Iran, Ambassador Lesson said she expects both issues to be on the Council agenda during Denmark's presidency but cautioned that agreement on specific Council action could be difficult.
On Gaza, she referenced the adoption of "resolution 28 0 3" and said that, eight months after its passage, concerns remain about humanitarian access and continued attacks and casualties. "So it's certainly one of these issues where I think we need to continue asking questions ... in particular on the entry of humanitarian ... access," Lesson said.
On Iran, Lesson said she had seen press reports of talks and reiterated Denmark's call for de-escalation and resumption of diplomatic engagement, noting that if Council members raise the matter it could be taken up formally on the agenda.
