City outlines paving plan: staff aims for about 25 miles over two years; AI scan used to prioritize work

Public-works staff told the Board of Works that the city's paving strategy combines resident input with an AI road‑condition scan performed by the contractor; the combined approach will prioritize the most‑traveled roads first. Staff estimated this year's mileage at "somewhere between... 10 to 14" miles and said, conservatively across this year and next, to "call it 25 miles" toward a total network of 119 miles.

Staff noted the pavement assessment uses a PACER rating with an average target of 6 and said the work will be a mix of mill/overlay depths adjusted in places where other utilities required deeper sections. Councilors thanked staff and highlighted the importance of pursuing additional funding rather than relying solely on limited state CCMG money.

Board members also discussed coordination with neighborhood input and thanked staff members (including Courtney Partoon) for grant‑finding efforts to supplement state funding.
