Council committees move several zoning variances and a restaurant special use to consent agenda

Several routine land‑use items were advanced to the council consent agenda after staff review and unanimous committee recommendations.

Staff told the committee the existing detached garage is in disrepair and the petitioner proposes a replacement that increases the front setback and maintains the rear one‑foot setback; staff recommended approval. A second item sought a side‑yard setback reduction at 839 East Glencoe Road to allow a two‑car garage with a five‑foot setback where 15 feet is required; staff noted a neighbor letter and asked for grading plans but recommended approval. For a commercial parcel at 5154 Northwest Highway, staff said a new operator proposes to reuse the previous restaurant’s seating plan and therefore meets parking requirements; the Zoning Board recommended approval and the committee voted to add that item to the consent agenda.
