Palatine officials approved a set of infrastructure and maintenance contracts on April 4 as part of the consent calendar.
The Infrastructure & Environment Committee recommended awarding the Elizabeth Avenue and Elizabeth Court water-main replacement contract to Gerani Sewer and Water for $276,320, a sum staff said was about 15 percent under the 2016 capital budget estimate. The committee also recommended awarding the 2016 sidewalk and isolated curb-and-gutter bid to the low compliant bidder for $160,906, extending the downtown landscape-maintenance contract with Brian Edward Landscaping at no price increase, and awarding RW Henderson a pathway tree-trimming contract not to exceed $70,000.
"We're recommending awarding the contract to Gerani Sewer and Water in an amount of $276,320," staff said, noting a positive reference check and that the bid was under budget. On the tree-trimming contract, staff said the incumbent offered an extension at the same price but the competitive bid was slightly higher; nonetheless staff recommended the award for price competitiveness and operational continuity.
All items were placed on the consent agenda and approved by voice votes in committee and recorded on the council consent roll call. Staff said the water-main replacement was identified in the 2016 capital improvement program; the tree purchases extension was presented as part of the ongoing emerald ash borer removal and replacement program.
