Festival of Color special event approved; liquor commission hears outdoor alcohol request

The village administration committee approved a special‑event permit for a Festival of Color at India Bhawan on March 20, 2016, after staff said organizers had a parking and traffic management plan and the property owner approved limited parking‑row closures.

Staff told the committee the event would use a tent and that the organizers plan to request a temporary liquor license before the Palatine Liquor Commission. At the Liquor Commission hearing, the petitioner (Jonathan, a general manager) described plans for a tented event with a staffed bar and security to prevent handing alcohol outside the tent. The commission moved to approve the request to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages in conjunction with the Festival of Color, subject to the commission’s conditions.
