Muscular Dystrophy Association thanks Palatine firefighters after 'Fill the Boot' drive

Amanda, representing the Muscular Dystrophy Association(Chicago office), told the village council that the Palatine Fire Departmentruns an annual "Fill the Boot" campaign and that funds collected in Palatine remain available to local families. "So this year, the department raised close to $7,000 for us, and over the past 4 years, they've raised close to $40,000," Amanda said, and presented a plaque to the village in appreciation.

The MDA representative said the organization serves a little over 20 families in Palatine and provides clinics, research and summer camp programs for children and adults living with muscular dystrophy and related conditions. She noted the Chicagoland MDA office supports about 2,500 people in the broader region and thanked retirees, chiefs, officers and volunteers who helped collect donations.
