Council committees back $2.1 million resurfacing contract, remediation change order and fleet replacements

The Infrastructure and Environment Committee recommended several items for the consent agenda: awarding the 2016 street-resurfacing contract (about 30 sections, roughly 6.5 miles) to Arrow Road Construction Company on a low compliant bid of $2,097,804; authorizing change order #10 with CBNI Environmental to continue Illinois EPA reporting and remediation work at the 5 West Palatine Road site (a former gas/service station that has required multiple change orders); and authorizing the manager to purchase seven replacement vehicles under the 2016 budget.

Staff said the Arrow Road bid was approximately 20 percent under the 2016 budget estimate. For fleet replacements the 2016 budget appropriated $243,855; staff recommended purchasing seven vehicles from Curry Motors for $188,882 and authorizing up to $54,973 for outfitting, not to exceed the budgeted amount. Each item passed the committee and was placed on the consent calendar for council action.
