Dr. Nancy Montemayor presented the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) report to the Valley View ISD Board on May 25, saying, "It is a requirement to provide this report to the Board." The report summarized SHAC’s 2025–26 goals and whether they were met.
SHAC’s stated goals included distributing a SMART‑snacks list to schools; building student awareness of health risks such as opioids and vaping with a Drug Free Week in the fall plus a spring campaign; increasing mental‑health awareness and promoting available resources through the Clever app and student presentations on bullying and social‑emotional learning; promoting community events such as a 5K, Health Fair and Walk‑A‑Thon; and creating a staff wellness club and short wellness sessions during in‑service days. Montemayor described these as components SHAC used to evaluate goal completion.
The board received the report as an information item; no board action was required. Administrators and trustees had the opportunity to ask questions about next steps for student outreach and timing for community events.
