City manager announces Ken Wright accepted chief of police position

City Manager Regina Goff updated the commission on the recruitment process for chief of police and announced that commissioners selected Ken Wright for the role and that he accepted the appointment. Goff described multiple rounds of interviews that included internal staff and a uniformed trooper on the final panel.

Goff said the decision process was difficult because of strong candidates and thanked screening panel members; commissioners offered praise for the selection and the department noted upcoming interviews to fill remaining openings. "So we're thankful that he accepted the position," Goff said. The commission and staff will proceed with onboarding and any necessary administrative steps.
