Court accepts proposed FY 20262027 budget schedule, sets Aug. 25 public hearing

The court reviewed and accepted the proposed FY 20262027 budget and outlined the schedule for final adoption: county staff aimed to post the rate to the website, set Aug. 7 as the grievance deadline for elected officials, publish legal notices on Aug. 11, and target final adoption on Aug. 25, 2026. "On the 6th, hopefully, we can post the rate to the website ... August 7, if there's any grievances ... that's the drop dead date," the judge said while briefing the schedule.

Commissioners approved accepting the proposed budget by motion and voice vote. The court separately set a public hearing date of Aug. 25, 2026, for final adoption after the hearing. The auditor then presented routine line-item transfers, budget amendments (primarily road-bond and county-road expenditures), and accounts-payable claims (including juror payments and payroll); each item was approved by motion and voice vote.
