Council approves Parkside Hills 5th Addition site plan for 66 units

The West Branch City Council on Aug. 3 approved Resolution 2026-83, adopting the site plan for Lot 3 of Parkside Hills 5th Addition. The plan adds 66 units overall; the developer intends to build 48 units in the first phase, which will include four 12-plex buildings, and to add the remainder after a future submission for Workforce Housing Credit.

The Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed the plan on July 28 and passed it unanimously. P&Z commented that they would like to see more ownership housing because the community currently has a high proportion of rentals and praised the green space laid out in the plan. The developer (Hershberger) told the Council the units are configured so individual sections could be split and sold if market demand shifts. Councilmember Tom Dean moved approval; Chantry Noel seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
