Council recognizes Health Center Week; CCHS says it serves roughly 22% of the county

The Dorchester County Council issued a proclamation recognizing Health Center Week (Aug. 2–8, 2026) and thanked Chatham Community Health System (CCHS) for more than 40 years of community health service. The proclamation highlighted CCHS's role as a federally qualified health center providing primary medical, dental, behavioral health, school‑based and other services across several mid‑Shore counties.

Victoria Billings, introduced by the presiding officer to accept remarks, told the council that CCHS serves approximately 35,000 patients across Caroline, Dorchester, Queen Anne's and Talbot counties and estimated about 7,520 Dorchester County residents (roughly 22% of the county population) receive CCHS services. "So thank you very much," Billings said, adding appreciation for county support. The council posed for photographs and applauded CCHS staff.
