Council approves consent items including three‑year salt agreement; routine business passes

The Dorchester County Council approved the consent agenda and routine items during its Aug. 4 meeting. Among the items was a three‑year salt utilization agreement requested by Public Works to purchase additional salt from the State Highway Administration during snow events for an amount not to exceed $51,236 for the period 09/01/2026 through 08/31/2029; expenses will be charged to the respective operating budgets when incurred.

Council also voted to post revised administrative policies—including a social media policy and a uniform address code—within county departments for a 10‑calendar‑day public comment period before returning the policies for consideration at the Aug. 18 meeting. The council approved the consent items and thanked staff for preparing the materials; no substantive debate was recorded on these items.
