Dorchester County says enforcement and committee review are next steps for Bonney Brook complaints

Dorchester County officials told Bonney Brook residents they will pursue enforcement when patrols are available and asked their traffic safety committee to review signage and traffic-calming recommendations.

"The sheriff's office has heard the message," the Traffic Safety Committee Chair said, acknowledging limited patrol resources but promising to make staff aware of patterns so enforcement can be targeted when possible. County representatives explained typical patrol staffing constraints and told residents they can call the sheriff's office to report repeat problematic vehicles.

On funding, the chair said that if the traffic safety committee and public works recommend a measure that requires money, "it would come from our contingency fund." Residents raised alternatives such as homeowners association contributions for a solar flashing sign; one staff example put that type of sign at about $5,900. The committee agreed to consider the site and return recommendations to the council if additional approval or funding is required.
