Council members reviewed planning for the county’s consolidated transportation tour with Maryland Department of Transportation officials scheduled for Oct. 20 and invited municipalities and legislators to propose issues or legislative priorities for the MDOT meeting. County staff asked members and municipalities to submit items for the tour and legislative discussions.
During public comment, Sherry Lewis Sisco raised concerns about a recent roadway fatality and asked the county to press for near‑term safety measures—such as a four‑way stop—while funding for a larger fix is pursued. The council voted to prepare and send a letter of support aimed at expediting short‑term safety measures at the intersection. Separately, a public question about railroad right‑of‑way ownership was answered: staff confirmed the state owns the tracks and will follow up on the right‑of‑way inquiry.
