Select Board appoints three volunteers to local committees

The New Boston Select Board confirmed three volunteer appointments during its Aug. 3 meeting, adding capacity to the zoning, open‑space and library boards.

Adam Blood introduced himself as an applicant for the Zoning Board of Adjustment, saying he has "an architectural background, for the past 20 years" and lives on Clark Hill Road; the chair said the ZBA chairman recommended him and moved to approve his appointment. The board approved the appointment by voice vote.

Peter Maloney was reappointed to the Open Space Committee. Maloney told the board he has lived in town for 35 years and has served on the committee for about 25 years; members praised his experience and reappointed him for another term. Kristin DeCosta was appointed as an alternate to the library trustees. DeCosta said she has lived in New Boston about 10 years, became involved in library programming after her daughter was born and is "in the process of getting my MLIS." Trustees and select board members voiced support and moved to appoint her.

The appointments were handled as separate agenda items and approved by the board during the meeting. The newly appointed volunteers were asked to complete swearing‑in formalities with the town clerk.
