Kalkaska commissioners elect Kohn Fisher chair, Jeff Sieting vice‑chair

The Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Kohn Fisher as chair and Commissioner Jeff Sieting as vice‑chair during its Jan. 2, 2026 organizational meeting.

Clerk Deborah Hill called for nominations for chair; Commissioner Robert Baldwin nominated Fisher, who accepted. The board then voted to appoint Fisher, 7 yeas and 0 nays. Afterward Chair Fisher called for nominations for vice‑chair; Commissioner Truman Bicum nominated Jeff Sieting. The board voted to appoint Sieting with the roll call recorded as Baldwin, Bicum, Comai, Matley, Persons, Sieting and Fisher voting yes and no nays.

The votes followed routine organizational procedures used to set leadership at the start of the board’s calendar year. The leadership selections were made at the outset of a meeting that also approved the meeting agenda and other annual housekeeping matters.

The board’s next regular meeting was affirmed for the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 PM; standing committee meeting times and other calendar items were approved later in the session.
