New board member raises shortage of play space for children under five

At the May meeting, board member Sydney Morgan raised that "residents with children under the age of five do not seem to have a location/park to take their children," asking the board to consider whether the city can add facilities for that age group.

Public Works Director Jacob Speer acknowledged the need but said available space is limited and that historically the city has designed parks to "cater to the greatest number of use (ex: ages 5+ or ages 5-)." He added that the board's goal is to include children of "all ages and abilities" in future park designs. Acting Chair Brecken Brown asked whether the field behind Friendship Park could serve as a site for an additional playground.

Board members did not take a formal vote on a specific park site at this meeting but discussed the constraint of finite space and the priority-setting tradeoffs for future park planning.
