The commissioners read a proclamation recognizing National Breastfeeding Week and invited the public to a celebration in the annex hallway. A San Patricio County WIC representative told the court the program had earned national recognition for its breastfeeding support work.
"San Patricio County WIC was the only one to receive the Gold Premier Award," the WIC representative said, noting the award recognizes agencies that meet high standards for staff competency, peer counseling, community collaboration and measurable breastfeeding outcomes. The representative said the program met the threshold of achieving 50% or higher fully breastfeeding participants and maintained active partnerships with hospitals and community providers.
Why it matters: The award signals county-level public-health investment in maternal and infant support services and may affect outreach and educational partnerships. The court and WIC staff invited the public to an outside event from 9–11 a.m. to mark the recognition.
