The Rockwall City Council approved a resolution authorizing the Rockwall Economic Development Corporation to purchase property in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction and confirmed several appointments and reappointments to advisory boards during its Aug. 3, 2026 meeting.
Mayor Pro Temmuller moved to approve the resolution to authorize the REDC to purchase property in the ETJ; the mayor seconded and the motion "passed unanimously," the council recorded. Mayor Pro Temmuller then moved to appoint James Filati and Jason Bettendorf to the Planning & Zoning Commission, Kate Wilke and Patty Maggio to the Architectural Review Board, and to move Jean Whitting to a voting position on the Board of Adjustments; motions were seconded and approved.
Council also approved reappointments to the Architectural Review Board (Kevin Haddawi, Robert McAngus), Historic Preservation Advisory Board (Hayden Fraser), the park board (Jake Wimpey, Mike McKeown), and additional planning and zoning reappointments (Galen Hilliard, Ellis Bentley). The council approved reappointments to the animal shelter board for Gary Freeman and Herman Hudson through August 2028.
The council did not record individual roll-call tallies in the meeting transcript; each motion was noted in the public record as approved unanimously. No member spoke in opposition during the recorded discussion. The actions follow recommendations made in the councils executive-session discussion earlier in the meeting.
