Staff highlighted several projects intended to improve connectivity across the city. Brian Tobin said the Neiman Trail — a connection under Highway 69 into Corporate Woods — has design complete, grant funding in place, construction underway and an expected opening in 2027.
Tobin also described a new connection at 143rd Street and Highway 69 on property dedicated by a utility that will include a pedestrian refuge crossing and link to the north-side trail network and the Blue Valley Hilltop campus. He noted a CIP study scheduled for 2028 to explore reconnection opportunities for the Turkey Creek Trail as staff looks at system-wide strategies.
The committee asked staff to continue identifying grant opportunities and coordination with neighboring jurisdictions (JCPRD, Olathe, Leawood) to create a more connected regional trail system.
