Local officials push chevrons, turn lanes and warning signs at problem intersections

Local public-safety officials and residents suggested several targeted engineering fixes for known high-crash locations.

Brian Al, Bradford fire chief, described multiple commercial-vehicle crashes and sight-distance obstructions at the 114/103 area and recommended measures such as flashing arrows for left turns, chevrons on S-turn approaches and congestion-warning signs near boat launches. "It's an easy fix to try to let people know, use caution to go through there," he said when discussing left-turn markings and chevrons.

Other residents asked the team to evaluate turning lanes at the boat launch and improvements to approach grades near the Pat's Peak entrance. The corridor team said it would consider traffic-calming concepts and speed-management treatments when developing design alternatives late in the study.
