Sun Valley council adopts ordinance to implement development impact fees

Sun Valley’s City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 564 on Dec. 6 to implement development impact fees, establishing administrative procedures for how fees will be collected, administered and when exceptions may apply.

Community Development Director Skelton described the item as focused on administration: "This item is for the administrative side of things. It goes through how the fees are collected, administered, where you can have exceptions, etc.," according to the transcript. The Mayor opened a public hearing; no members of the public spoke.

Council President Michelle Griffith moved to read the ordinance by title, waive the second and third readings and adopt Ordinance No. 564; Council Member Jane Conard seconded. A roll call vote recorded ayes from Griffith, Conard, Keith Saks and Brad DuFur; there were no nays. City Administrator Femling read the ordinance by title following the vote.

The ordinance provides the procedural framework the city will use to assess and collect the impact fees discussed in the studies adopted earlier in the meeting. The council approved the ordinance at the same special session that adopted the Comprehensive Plan amendment; the meeting adjourned at 4:18 PM.
