City Administrator Femling told the Sun Valley City Council during a June 15 special work session that staff had collectively cut $500,000 from the FY20 budget and distributed revised packet documents to the council. "They were able to cut $500,000 from the FY20 budget, collectively; and commended the Council for keeping the City finances healthy through the years," Femling said.
Femling framed the FY21 budget process as a work session exercise intended to keep the books balanced and asked that speakers remain concise to meet the meeting time goal. The presentation highlighted revised fund-balance reporting designed to be easier to track and show the council options for reallocating reserves between the Fixed Asset Fund and the General Fund. No final adoption occurred; the session produced recommended adjustments and direction for staff to carry forward into formal budget work.
