Norfolk wetlands commission tables review of roadside herbicide plan, seeks Public Works and Conservation Commission input

The Norfolk Inland Wetlands Commission tabled an informal discussion about a proposed Public Works roadside herbicide application for weed control until a future meeting. Staff had distributed informational materials about the plan roughly two weeks before the Aug. 3 meeting; commissioners said they wanted either the Public Works Supervisor or his designee to attend and also requested comment from the Conservation Commission before proceeding.

Chairman Hartley Mead and Vice Chairman Jill Chase specifically indicated they would like Conservation Commission input; the body agreed to postpone substantive discussion to the next regular meeting and to attempt scheduling a special meeting sooner to address the item. No formal action or vote on the herbicide program occurred at the Aug. 3 meeting.
