Sun Valley officials report stronger LOT revenues, flag staff workload and ARPA housing options

City Administrator Femling told the Sun Valley Mayor and City Council on June 22 that October–May local-option-tax (LOT) receipts "have been much better than anticipated," improving the city's mid-year revenue outlook. He also told the council that "staff's workloads have doubled in recent years, and they are still coming to work with smiles on their faces," a point he raised while asking the council to consider budget adjustments that reflect increased staff demands.

Femling highlighted the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds as one of the revenue sources the city could use to support affordable housing projects and said department budgets were prepared with merit increases included. Mayor Peter M. Hendricks asked the Housing Committee to reconvene in the coming months to review opportunities and next steps. The council did not adopt a specific housing program in the special meeting but directed follow-up through the Housing Committee.
