Sun Valley considers ending Trail Creek pathway on city land while awaiting historical review

Mayor Peter Hendricks opened discussion of the Trail Creek Road (Sun Valley Road) pathway rehabilitation, describing challenges that have arisen in completing the work on the originally planned alignment. City Engineer Roberts, attending by telephone, told the council she was confident the work "can get it done toward the end of July/beginning of August."

Council members discussed practical alternatives given site constraints and expressed a general preference for ending the pathway on city-owned property rather than proceed through contested parcels. The council agreed to leave the change-order paperwork in place but to wait for input from the Idaho State Historical Society before making a final construction decision. No final change order nor formal vote on the contract was recorded in the meeting minutes.

The decision to pause a final alignment reflects the council's effort to balance schedule and regulatory review; Roberts provided the most optimistic near-term schedule but the council asked staff to return with any findings from the state historical review before authorizing construction beyond city land. The next procedural step is for staff to report back after receiving the State Historical Society's guidance.
