Fire chief reports hydrant painting progress and delivery of new Squad 741 expected this week

Marc Neumann, Fire Chief, submitted a written report to council noting progress on the hydrant painting project and the completion and inspection of the new Squad 741 replacement vehicle.

"Approximately half of the city’s hydrants have now been repainted," Neumann's written report said, and he added that if the Squad 741 inspection is successful, delivery was expected later that week with equipment changeover planned for next week.

Neumann also thanked Service Department staff for repair and site work at the fire station, including expanding a front parking area, installing a concrete pad and for replacing a failed 10‑year‑old hot water heater in‑house—an action the report said saved approximately $2,000 compared with the lowest external quote.

No council action was required on these operational updates; the report was submitted for the council record.
