Committee backs variation to allow large real-estate sign at 800 E. Northwest Highway

Councilman Helms, as chair of the Police Policy and Code Services Committee, opened consideration of an ordinance to permit a 0.333 real-estate sign and a freestanding real-estate sign larger than 50 square feet at 800 East Northwest Highway in District 6. Planning staff described the subject property as a 10‑story office building on roughly 4 acres, noted prior sign variations for tenants and explained the request fits the property’s circumstances.

Staff told the committee the zoning board of appeals unanimously recommended approval and that staff concurred. The committee voted in favor by voice and the chair said the item would be placed on the council consent agenda for final action. No members of the public spoke on the item during committee discussion.
