The Community & Economic Development Committee reviewed a preliminary plan to allow a 10‑unit townhouse development called Auburn Ridge adjacent to the Auburn Woods planned development. Planning staff said the site is presently zoned R‑1, that the density and parking are compatible with surrounding development, and that the planning commission unanimously recommended approval. Staff also noted the petitioner has an easement agreement with the homeowners association to connect to roadway and utilities and said contours of off‑site grading and landscaping had been revised in response to neighbors.
Petitioner Lisa Fermanas introduced herself and said, "We've been working with the surrounding neighbors for multiple years, and, our engineering and the planning department has done a great job." Glen, a board member of the Auburn Woods Homeowners Association, told the committee he and the majority of homeowners are pleased the existing large residence on the property will be replaced by the proposed 10 units and that they view the plan as a "win‑win situation." Neighbor and property-owner James Calabrese, who identified himself as an attorney, also expressed support, saying he rarely sees the level of accommodation made by the petitioner in similar matters. The committee voted to forward the matter to the council consent agenda for final action.
