The West Fairlee Selectboard met and approved the consent agenda for its previous meeting. Chair (S1) opened the meeting and introduced an added item, a catering permit request for the Aloha Hive; Committee member (S3) moved to accept the consent agenda “from July 20 as is,” and the motion passed by voice vote.
The board then reviewed road-supply quotes from Cargill. Committee members asked whether listed amounts included delivery fees and noted a marked price increase compared with earlier 2025 figures; Chair (S1) said bulk de-icing was previously around $1.00–$1.08 and current quotes showed bulk at $1.16 and Clearlane at $1.30. Committee member (S3) moved that the town accept the two quotes from Cargill; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Chair (S1) cautioned the higher per-ton prices could put the roads budget over its current allocation as some deliveries already have been spent.
Why it matters: The higher per-ton prices for de-icing materials could increase winter-maintenance costs for West Fairlee and may lead the board to revisit budget allocations before the next delivery cycle.
