Palatine officials say Village Hall remodel nearing completion; contingency usage noted

The Village of Palatine received a progress update May 2 on the ongoing Village Hall remodel, with project staff reporting that the work is in its final stages and that site work is largely complete.

"They've got probably today about 90% of the curbing in," project lead Harry said, adding that most interior finishes are complete and that remaining work centers on HVAC and trim. Harry told the council the atrium and public meeting spaces are finished enough to show the new layout and that the furniture supplier is scheduled to begin deliveries on May 31 with roughly two weeks of installation expected.

Staff also discussed the project's contingency. "We're doing really well with our contingency budget. We're at a little over 80% right now," Harry said, and noted that some additional owner-requested parking work and Park District change orders (approximately $165,000) may require adjustments to the budget and a return to council for change-order approval.

Why it matters: the remodeled hall adds public meeting space, improved customer-service areas and dedicated workstations for administrative staff. Officials said the project remains on track for the next phases of paving and landscaping, barring any major weather delays.

The update concluded with council members thanking staff for the work and noting that the finished building will include an overflow public meeting room available for community use.
