Catering business Rockin' Rodizio wins approval for cooking demonstrations and Class G liquor license

The Village of Palatine approved a special-use amendment and a Class G liquor license for SWZ LLC, doing business as Rockin' Rodizio, at 773 North Quinton Road during its May 2 session and the Liquor Commission meeting that followed.

Christina Gargo, who identified herself as the applicant, described the proposal in detail: "We are looking to do beer and wine pairings with barbecue classes, or charcuterie and cheese," she said, explaining the events will be ticketed, open to the public by pre-sale, handled by certified food handlers and marketed online. Gargo told council the operation will function as a catering business and not an open restaurant.

Staff noted the property already has prior approvals, including a parking variation granted in December 2015, and that a parking-management plan among the center's tenants and landlord is in place. Staff recommended approval and the item was placed on the council's consent agenda; the Liquor Commission separately approved the Class G application.

Why it matters: the approvals allow Rockin' Rodizio to host ticketed cooking demonstrations that include beer and wine pairings and require the business to comply with any conditions set by staff and the commission, including environmental health requirements.
