The Village Council approved an ordinance to grant a special use allowing a side-yard setback of 10 feet, rather than the 15 feet required by code, for a redevelopment project at 335 West Michigan.
Planning staff told the committee the lot is approximately 30,000 square feet in an R-1 zone, and the petitioner proposes to demolish the existing structure and build a house with a side-load garage that necessitates a narrow setback. "The existing lot is approximately 30,000 square feet," staff said during the committee presentation, and the zoning board of appeals unanimously recommended approval.
The item advanced out of committee and appeared on the council consent agenda. When the full council considered the ordinance, the motion carried on roll call with five "Aye" votes and one "Nay." The clerk's roll call recorded Councilman Lamoran: Aye; Councilman Kozlowski: Aye; Councilman Solberg: Aye; Councilman Millar: Nay; Councilman Maiselinski: Aye; Councilman Helms: Aye. The council will file the ordinance according to standard procedures.
