Palatine secures nearly $800,000 in federal funds for Colfax Street resurfacing; village to appropriate $198,556 match and hire engineering services

Village staff told the Infrastructure & Environment Committee the village secured just under $800,000 in federal funds for resurfacing Colfax Street from Quentin to Plum Grove Road. To access those funds the village must sign a local public agency agreement and provide a 20 percent local match; staff proposed using motor fuel tax dollars and asked the committee to approve a resolution appropriating $198,556 for that match.

Staff also recommended a construction engineering agreement with Bollinger and Associates for material testing and documentation required under the federal program, with a contract amount not to exceed $98,054. "The good news here is dollars just short of $800,000 becomes available," staff said, adding that federal participation means additional documentation and testing obligations. The committee approved the items and referred them to the council consent agenda for final approval.
