Committee approves installation of picnic tables at Palatine Train Station for Farmers Market

The administration, technology and community health committee approved a Sister Cities request to install picnic tables in the triangular landscape island of the Palatine Train Station parking lot for use by the Palatine Farmers Market and the public.

"As you know, the Sister Cities manages the Palatine Farmers Market located downtown Palatine in the train station parking lot," said staff. Staff told the committee Sister Cities agreed to cover the cost of the tables and the base work; traffic engineering had raised concerns about introducing obstacles into the lot, but staff described the lot as generally low turnover and did not object. The committee approved placing the request on the consent agenda.

If residents notice maintenance issues in the future, staff said the village would revisit arrangements with Sister Cities; staff characterized maintenance needs as expected to be minimal given concrete table design.
