Highway Department says Petition for Aid restores paperwork and transparency

The Finance Committee heard from Jeremy Putnam of the Highway Department about Petition for Aid forms the department has been receiving from townships. Putnam told the committee the forms restore a paper trail for transparency, are consistent with past practice, and were required statutorily.

"It is a paper trail for transparency," Jeremy Putnam said when explaining why the department is again requesting Petition for Aid paperwork. He added that aid has historically been given and that the process does not increase county costs. The committee accepted the explanation and no formal action was taken on the matter during the meeting.
